Royal Springs

Royal Springs mineral water has its origins in the Kingdom of Toro. This heaven sent bounty of nature is drawn from the natural springs within Kibale forest, one of the few remaining protected natural water catchment areas of the world.

We also manufacture a variety of flavored juice. Future developments & innovations will include sparkling & flavored water, iced tea & dairy products.

Semliki in the Kamwenge Community

The Directors of Semliki benefited from education and the church in their early years and are passionate about giving back to the community. The Royal Spring water plant is located in their home area and employs members of community. The company has extended a hand to improve the surrounding community with the following projects

  • Rehabilitation of Rwengobe Church of Uganda building, Bigodi Primary School and Rwengobe Primary School
  • Construction of a community borehole
  • Extension of electricity to Rwengobe Primary School and the Church of Uganda
  • In addition, to access to clean and free water; the children in the community are being equipped with computer skills through training at the primary school

Construction of a Borehole for the Rwengobe community

Historically, the community fetched water from open water streams, sharing the source with their herds of cattle. In 2009, a community borehole was constructed. Members of the community now have access to clean water.

Construction of a new church for Rwengobe Church of Uganda

The old church with an average seating capacity of 50 people had been destroyed by strong winds and was in a pathetic state.  The parishioners were at risk by simply showing up for the weekly services.  Semliki undertook to construct a new church building in 2019 that can accommodate over 100 parishioners.

Computer Lab at Rwengobe Primary School

In 2019 and in partnership with external stakeholders, we set up a computer laboratory for the primary school. The lab has over 10 computers.

Electricity Supply to Rwengobe Church of Uganda and Rwengobe Primary School

For many years our factory was running on generator.  When the Rural Electrification Agency (REA) extended electricity to Kamwenge district, Semliki Group paid for extension of supply to Rwengobe Church of Uganda and Rwengobe Primary School.  For the first time, they now had access to electricity and its benefits to the community.

Construction of the staff quarters, male & female modern toilet facility and classroom block for Rwengobe Primary School

Previously, the school accommodated a few key staff at the school, with other teachers doing a long daily commute.   In 2019, we partnered with well-wishers to construct staff quarters to accommodate more staff at the school.

The school did not have sufficient toilet facilities for the children to use.  Worse still, they were constructed using mud and were in a deplorable state, creating daily health and occupational hazards to the children and staff. We constructed a modern pit-latrine to cater for both the female and males separately.

With the increasing number of children and availability of free primary education, some classes were too crowded. We involved friends and family, to construct a block of classrooms. The school has over 600 children.

Construction of classroom block for Bigodi Primary School

Bigodi Primary School is also within our community but closer to the town centre with easy access to electricity supply and the main road. However, they too had a challenge of the increasing number of pupils and same number/size of classrooms. Semliki mobilised supporters and in 2019, constructed a block of classrooms.
